Description

The Gita Game is a meditative and transformational board game inspired by the Bhagavad-gita As It Is by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada.

Designed for personal reflection and meaningful conversation, this game helps players explore life’s questions, challenges, and choices through ancient wisdom, intuitive insights, and guided inner work.

Game Objective

Each player begins the game with a personal inquiry — a life situation, inner conflict, pattern, or deep question to explore. The goal is to reach deeper self-understanding and transformation by recognizing personal qualities and receiving intuitive guidance that influences outer life.

Game Setup

Each player formulates a personal question or request. The inquiry should focus on internal change — when transformation happens within, external situations begin to shift naturally.

Examples:

  • Instead of: “How can I improve my relationship with my husband?”
Try: “What can I change within myself to make my relationship with my husband more harmonious?”
  • Instead of: “How can I improve my financial situation?”
Try: “What qualities should I develop and what actions can I take to change my relationship with money?”
  • Instead of: “Why am I not appreciated at work?”
Try: “What is preventing me from feeling my own worth, and how can I change that?”

Each player receives:

  • A token
  • A sheet for personal notes (optional)
  • Access to card decks: Character Traits, Actions, Accelerations, Obstacles, Clues

Game Turn

On your turn, roll the dice and move your token forward by the number shown. Depending on where you land, draw a card from the corresponding deck:

  • Character Trait: A quality to develop to help resolve your inquiry.
  • Action: A step or behavior to move forward.
  • Acceleration: A strength you already have that supports progress.
  • Obstacle: An inner belief or habit that stands in the way.
  • Clue (Association): Draw an image card and name your first association — this becomes a symbolic message for your question.
  • Meeting with the teacher: This field means that a significant encounter is about to happen in your life. The teacher may appear in many forms — as a person, a book, a video, a lecture, or even a conversation in which the right knowledge is revealed to you. Remember: The teacher appears when the student is ready. If you received this field, stay open and attentive — observe who or what comes into your life and what message is being brought to you.

Reflect briefly: “What does this card reveal about my situation? What do I need to realize?”

Continuing the Game

Players continue moving around the board and collecting cards. Each card is a part of the puzzle — together, they reveal a clearer picture of your inquiry and how to transform it from within.

Ending the Game

The game ends when the time is up or when a player reaches the final space. Each player reviews their cards — qualities, actions, accelerations, obstacles, and associations — and creates a chain of insights. This reflection shows what inner work is needed so the outer situation can naturally shift or be accepted with peace.

Reflection Questions

  • What themes or patterns repeated throughout the game?
  • What was the main message I received from all the cards?
  • Which qualities should I focus on developing right now?
  • What actions can I begin taking today?
  • What did I realize about myself and my inquiry?
