He is the embodiment of divine youth, beauty, courage, wisdom, and victory over evil. The murti depicts Lord Murugan standing in samabhanga (graceful upright posture) upon a lotus base set on a square stepped pedestal with wave and floral engravings. His four arms hold his sacred attributes:
- Vel (divine spear/lance) — the weapon of divine knowledge and his most iconic symbol, given to him by Goddess Parvati to defeat the forces of ignorance and adharma
- Abhaya mudra — the gesture of fearlessness and divine protection
