Description
Elevate your home mandir with this beautifully handcrafted Brass Sinhasana with Prabhavali Arch, standing 6.5" tall. Cast in solid brass with a warm bright gold finish, this exceptional piece is a complete altar throne (sinhasana) and prabhavali (ornamental arch) in one — a sacred stage designed to enshrine and honor any deity murti placed within it, transforming your home puja space into a miniature temple sanctuary.
In Hindu temple tradition, the sinhasana (literally “lion throne”) is the sacred seat of the deity — the platform upon which the murti rests and from which the Lord receives worship. The prabhavali (also called torana or prabhamandala) is the ornamental arch or aureole that rises behind the deity, representing the divine radiance and cosmic splendor that surrounds the Lord. Together, sinhasana and prabhavali form the complete altar composition that is the heart of any properly constituted home mandir or temple inner sanctum.
The arch (prabhavali) of this piece rises in a graceful horseshoe form with deeply engraved decorative borders — a double band of raised dot beading and flame/leaf scroll motifs along the inner and outer edges — and terminates at its apex in a beautifully rendered peacock feather (mora pankh) motif with the characteristic “eye” of the feather visible in relief, a sello Vaishnava auspicioso associated with Lord Krishna and the divine abundance of the natural world. The two pillar supports on either side of the arch are decorated with stacked moldings, recessed niche panels, and floral relief engravings — echoing the column forms of classical South and North Indian temple architecture.
The square base platform (chowki) is richly engraved with a central ashtadala padma (eight-petaled lotus) inscribed within a circular frame — the sacred geometric symbol of divine purity and the unfolding of cosmic creation — surrounded by vine scrolls and four-petaled floral motifs at each corner. The base rests on four small feet at its corners, elevating the platform slightly and completing the composition with the dignity of a proper altar throne.
This sinhasana is suitable for murtis up to approximately 4–5" tall and works beautifully with brass, silver, or stone deity figures of any tradition.
